Accurate to a point.....
The Highland Inn is funky in more ways than one.
Definition of FUNKY
1 : having an offensive odor : foul
Not this one. The place is actually very clean and odor free.
2 : having an earthy unsophisticated style and feeling; especially : having the style and feeling of older black American music (as blues or gospel) or of funk <a funky beat>
Yes and no. Definitely the first part not so much in regards to funky music part although I have heard in the downstairs ballroom it does sometimes get "funky"
3 a : odd or quaint in appearance or feeling b : lacking style or taste c : unconventionally stylish
Yes, yes, and yes. This one hits the vibe of the Highland Inn to a tee.
Walking down the hallways and up the stairs had me thinking of a Tom Waits classic.
"Cause the piano has been drinking The piano has been drinking The piano has been drinking
Not me, not me, not me, not me, not me"
I could walk down these halls sober as a newborn and because of the worn out floors that went this way and that and doors and walls all a bit screwy and twisted, I would feel like I had just had a two-martini lunch.
You Can't Beat the Price or Location, Location, Location
However there is a huge truth to. "you get what you pay for".
There was no WiFi in the room, you had to pack up your computer and march down to the breakfast area to connect.
The breakfast was continental in the most continental of ways. And sometimes a lot less than that.
The TV's were beyond outdated, however entertainment was readily at hand because you could easily hear what everyone in any room near you was up to. You can only imagine, yep, exactly what you are probably imagining.
If you could come up with a more drab and glum color scheme in our room, it would take some real consideration. And the bed, oh the bed. My back still hurts.
That all said, we had a really nice stay.
