Los Angeles is notorious for having shitty fans. I know this and I'm not even into sports. I grew up in LA and still consider myself an Angeleno. We're alright as long as our team is winning, but as soon as that stop, well. We head to the beach or another sport.
We don't have a NFL team. And we have two basketball teams, in case one of them might stumble.
I don't follow sports so much. I grew up in LA during the "Showtime" era and when Magic Johnson announced he was HIV positive, it was a blow. It was beyond comprehension.
I have been a fan ever since. Through the ups and downs. Admitedly there were a lot of ups in the Laker's history.
The last few seasons have been a bit rough.
And this year, starting off 0-5.
Oh my, oh my.
But hurray, hurray the Lakers finally got a win last night.
I have started following Mixed Martial Arts, because of my jiujitsu ties. I have friends who compete and many people in class are fans. It's almost an obligation.
The other event I follow regularly is the Tour de France. I got hooked when Lance was on his streak.
I still follow the event.
And I still follow Lance.
You couldn't make up a story like his. And it's still unfolding.
