One of the wonderful things about what I do to get paid is the places I end up in.
This charming fellow greeted me when I entered Guidry's Hardware, one of the most amazing hardware stores I've happened upon and I've been in more than my fair share all over the Western hemisphere.
To be fair, I didn't stumble upon Guidry's, I read about it in of all places a magazine I happened upon at food festival that we went to on a previous road trip that sent us through New Orleans, Louisiana Kitchen & Culture, a bi-monthly magazine which celebrates the culture, heritage and cuisine of Louisiana.
Anyhow, ignoring my tendency to populate my ramblings with run-on sentences, what this article I read went on about was the interesting tendency that Louisiana hardware stores have for carrying a inordinate amount of cooking supplies.
In my recent travels I have found this to be true to an astonishing degree. And Guidry's joint, is up in the rankings in that regard.
They also had an amazing amount of what an Angeleno set decorator would refer to as period dressing. Why they have so much of it on hand and in stock, well, I reckon I'll be finding that out at some point.
