The plan is to head straight through Alabama and Mississippi today, opting to not take a main interstate as to get a slightly better view of the scenery. As much as I would like to amble and take our time, I'm more than aware of the trade off, that is the more time on the road means the less time camping and training up at elevation. The Tough Mudder starts off at 6800 ft and summits at 7800. So while I might not have enough time to properly train for the course, I can acclimate to the altitude which has been a lifesaver for me in the past.
The highlight of the day should be when we get to Greenville and get an eyewitness look at the Mississippi River. The current flood crested there on Thursday, the river rising some 65 feet higher than normal.
Must get to packing. More later.
