It's been just a week into the New Year and I'm having a hard time remembering what's happened and where that week went.
1 freakin' week.
A good thing there's facebook to remind me.

Thanks to Jon, Cindy & Skye for a lovely evening of laughter and yummy morsels... of food... and food for thought (literally and figuratively!). Jon, I'll let you know about that 5k I mentioned.
January 1 has often been a day of recovery from NYE celebrations the night before. And many a time we've done this while watching an Academy "screener" or two or three with friends and family. This year there were more mimosas and less movies. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty was on in the background at one point, but the day, that went into the evening, was mostly about seeing friends and hanging out.
It made my plan of getting back into shape a little harder, but was well worth it.

Getting back in shape again, let the sufferfest begin.
Binge-watching Breaking Bad
In the last week of December, Cindy and I had binged through all 5 seasons of Breaking Bad and were beginning to feel a bit like meth-heads.
We saved the final episode to watch in the New Year.
However what we didn't realize was that season 5 consisted of 16 episodes and was broken into 2 parts. So actually had 7 more episodes to go.
And that is what we ended up doing for a huge chunk of the second day of the New Year.
I did manage to get out of the house and go for a 4 mile jog which felt more like 14 miles after my long break from running.
I didn't post on Facebook, so I had to ask Cindy what transpired on Friday.
I think I blocked that day out of my memory because for hours I was back in "moving-in" mode, going through boxes and crates that had been stacked away and stored in the washer/dryer closet which was empty until Friday when we our new washing machine and drying were being delivered and installed.
As it turns out, when you order on-line from Best Buy, you need to buy hoses and electrical connections as well, something not made apparent on their web-site.
So the guys finally show up, a half-hour later than their 2 hour window, drop off the appliances and then shrug their shoulders as to the installation because the needed hook-ups hadn't been ordered.
After that ridiculous debacle, I was free to make a trip to our storage facility, joy of joys.
Friday was a grizzly bear day for me all around.

Early bird gets eggs — at Morningside Farmers Market.
I was determined to get 2014 on track, so I woke up early and got myself to one of the only farmers markets that is open year-round.
It was freezing, literally, so they moved the market indoors and I got there early enough to get some eggs along with lots of fresh greens and tubers. The Danniells family was back to eating local and healthy.
On New Year's day I got on the scale and realized I was the heaviest I've been in over a decade. That had to change.
Skye went back to Circus camp which is where we had first been introduced to the Atlanta circus scene. This time around, all but one of the instructors were fellow students and/or instructors at our Monday Circus Arts class. So she felt quite at home.
We celebrated this productive day with a trip to Skye's favorite noodle restaurant in Atlanta.

Yoga for the New Year — with Skye Danniells at X3 Sports.
Lots of errands, most of them futile, more on that later, a trip to the mall, a beet disaster in the kitchen, (looked like a murder scene) but in the end a wonderful dinner and a re-watching of Walter Middy.

Finally getting back into working out and really feeling it.
I am so sore these days, but in just a week I've gone from 207.4 pounds to 200.6. Almost back to my pre-holiday weight.
