I can’t remember when I started going to farmer’s markets or why. It certainly wasn’t part of my childhood experience. We did go to a stand at Pierce College to get fresh corn. I remember it tasting different from the grocery store version. It was juicier, richer, better. Now going to farmer’s markets are simply part of my life, part of my philosophy. It is a way that I can contribute to the local economy. It is a way that I can lessen my negative impact on the planet, ecologically speaking. It becomes part of my curriculum for home schooling my daughter. It’s an education for me. It’s an adventure. And the food is juicier, richer, better.
